Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Terminox, a desktop SSH client, and the optional Terminox Pro subscription. Terminox is provided by ANKA STUDIO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales — "we", "us".
By installing or using Terminox you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
1. What Terminox is
Terminox is a tool for connecting to and managing servers you own or are authorised to access. It provides SSH terminal sessions, SFTP file transfer, port forwarding and saved connection management, and runs on macOS and Windows.
Terminox is local-first: your hosts, credentials and settings are stored in an encrypted vault on your own device. The app works fully offline.
2. Plans
- Free — the application, on a single device, at no cost and with no time limit.
- Pro — a paid subscription that additionally provides end-to-end encrypted synchronisation of your vault across your own devices.
Current prices are listed on our pricing page. We may change prices for future billing periods; we will give you notice before a change affects a renewal, and you may cancel instead of renewing.
3. Accounts
A Pro subscription requires an account, created with Google, GitHub or an email address. You are responsible for keeping access to that account secure. You must be able to form a binding contract to subscribe.
4. Your master passphrase — read this
Your data is encrypted on your device with keys derived from a master passphrase that you alone hold. We never receive it and we cannot recover it, reset it, or decrypt your data without it.
If you lose your master passphrase, the data encrypted with it is permanently unrecoverable — by you and by us. This is a deliberate consequence of zero-knowledge encryption, not a defect. Please store it somewhere safe.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Terminox to:
- access any system you do not own or lack authorisation to access;
- break any applicable law, or infringe anyone's rights;
- attack, overload or interfere with our service or infrastructure, or attempt to circumvent its limits or access controls;
- resell or redistribute the software as your own product.
We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is being used this way.
6. Payment
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle is the seller of record for your purchase; it handles payment, invoicing, and any VAT or sales tax due in your country. Paddle's buyer terms also apply to the transaction.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; see the refund policy for refunds and cancellation.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep the sync service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Because Terminox is local-first, a sync outage does not stop you from using the app or reaching your servers — only synchronisation between devices pauses.
8. Intellectual property
We retain all rights in the Terminox software and brand. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it under these terms. Your data remains yours; we claim no ownership of it.
9. Termination
You may stop using Terminox at any time, cancel your subscription, and delete your server-side data from within the app. We may terminate or suspend access if you materially breach these terms. On termination your local vault remains on your device and the app continues to work on the Free tier.
10. Disclaimer
Terminox is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You are responsible for your own systems, credentials and backups.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost data, or loss resulting from a forgotten master passphrase. Our total liability arising from or connected to these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will give reasonable notice — by email or in the app — before it takes effect. Continuing to use Terminox after that means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep any mandatory protections of your country of residence.
